Stash Expedition

by Kniterella @ 12. May 2008 - 03:53:49 pm

:DD Last Saturday me and Jane (me friend from me Knitting club) went on a whizzzo stash expedition to Lee Mills at Scholes near Holmfirth. It was a jolly hot day the bus took ages but we finally arrived after about and hour and a half. Jane made a beeline for the Museum pieces and the Yarn mountain, she got a lovely book called Tunisian Crochet and it was the only one, so I ordered one too. I got some really colourful sock yarn its got at least five bright colours and an Opal sock yarn which is green, cream purple and very pale blue, lovly and very yummy. Should sell nicly on me craft stall that's if people like bright socks. I've heard there are see-through wellies now to show off our handmade socks.:DD:DD

Jane became a member of the Knitting and Crochet Guild on our day trip last Saturday and I was in the Cafe part having a cuppa and one of Adelaide's yummy cake, there was coccy cake and the most scrummy Victoria sponge so light and melt-in-the-mouth. Adelaide's cakes are to die for. I see from your blog Ruth that you also went to the Open Day, well I never saw you, me and Jane arrived at around 11.00am had a rest then had a look at the stash, Jane got some stash it was lovely. Me n Liz Gillet went to the top room upstairs for our lesson in Tweed stitch, I must say its very effective with all the colour changes. Its like a slip stitch every other stitch then you change colour block to make squares while twisting the yarn at back like Intarsia. Then alternate base colour for two rows then back to the colour rows for two rows. Each block is about 26 rows high with 11, 10, stitches of each colour then finish off with 11 sts on the end block.

On Wednesday I went to pay me bills and I was in absolute agony with me knee. I don't know how I got home I had to take lots of long rests in town while I was walking around. My best friend Dr Kevin reckons I have got Housemaids Knee, which can be Verrrrry painful indeed, I know cos its happening to me. When I eventually got home I passed out with pain on me sofa and slept for 4 hours. Woke up got me Tea at 9pm then fell asleep again. I managed to get upstairs with a great deal of pain i WAS GOING  with pain and just flopped into bed and stayed there till 1pm Thursday. I must have needed the sleep cos I was absolutely exhausted I can tell yer after the day I had on Wednesday.:**:>:XX i NEVER WANT THAT SORT OF PAIN AGAIN.

I did lots of knitting yesterday (Sunday) in fact I enjoyed meslef so much I stayed up very late till gone 300am, I thought just one more orw I have turned two heels on me thick socks and the nice orangey pink Opal one and Chris' blue sock well I also started the Heel flap on that got a long way to go before I finish the heel flap on that one, the dpn's on that are tiney 2mm and the Opal ones are 2.5mm. the thick slipper sock is nearly finished I have got to the toe shaping now and nearly finished it. I am gonna try and conquer this SSS and start the second sock of me slipper sock. Kelly's scarf is zooming along nicely I have done just over 30" so i'm just over half way along. I used up one ball to the neck and now I'm one the second ball. Trouble is its curling madly up the sides, it will look nice when I have washed and blocked it with steam. :DD;D:>>
Well cherubs I had better walz off to me Knitting club we are gonna be outside sipping our very long cold Frappucinos, mines a pint of Java Chip. Yum.

Tara for now Kniterella signing off:yawn: I got up at miday today that means less knitting time. Oh dear must learn to go to bed early like normal people but then again I'm not normal:crazy::crazy::crazy:chick
Happy knitting lots of hugs and X
